The poster subtitle earns its outline: white, 10px, black underlay

"the subtitle is barely readable" — cream at 80% over a pixel crowd was too
polite. White at full opacity, one size up from the court rows, and a solid
1px black outline all round plus the soft shadow, so the mode's one-line rules
read on every scene including the classic crowd, dimmed or lit.
